The new Altima has been completely redesigned, equipped with the 1.8-liter, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder QR25DE, which develops 182 horsepower, coupled with the XTRONIC CVT® gearbox, complemented by the multilink rear suspension.

Among the innovations, the Altima has the seat “zero gravity”, inspired by studies of nortea-Mericana space agency NASA to reduce fatigue of the occupants, and the Safety Shield , a system that brings together various equipment, such as Blind Spot Warning (Monitoring of blind spots), the Lane Departure Warning (Lane change Monitoring) and moving Object Detection (moving object detector), and the reverse camera that in Altima, has the expanded view  porsche car covers for sale.

Technology

The Nissan Altima features the Rear View Monitor , which provides expanded vision of what’s around by means of a small camera installed in the region of the vehicle’s license plate. Thus it was possible to use modern systems like the Blind Spot Warning (BSW), the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and the Moving Object Detection (MOD), avoiding the use of several sensors by the car.

The Lane Departure Warning (LDW or lane change monitoring) uses the camera to constantly monitor the paving lanes. If the Altima unintentionally exits the track without the arrow being activated at 60 km / h or more, a warning sounds the driver’s attention together with an alert on the dashboard, which will flash continuously. If desired, the driver can temporarily turn off the feature by means of the button located on the dashboard, to the left of the steering wheel, or totally in the configuration accessed by the on-board computer.

In case something moves behind the car while it is reversing, the Moving Object Detection (MOD) alerts you to the driver. New in the Altima, the Blind Spot Warning (BSW or blind spot monitoring) emits a warning light in the rearview mirror when another vehicle is in a blind spot area. If the direction light is on, this alert comes along with an audible warning to reinforce the proximity. The BSW notification is also shown on the screen of the Drive-Assist, advanced intuitive system located on the dashboard. The Drive-Assist system concentrates the most important information for your convenience in the Altima dashboard, presented through an intuitive 3D design with tilt display designed to enhance viewing.

Located between the odometer and the speedometer, the Drive-Assist’s four-inch color display is closer and easier to see than traditional center monitors. It is customizable and adjustable by the buttons on the steering wheel. There are audio system information, instant consumption, on-board computer, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and GPS data. In total, there are nine different information, six of which may or may not appear on the display, according to the selection made by the driver. The system is also integrated with Safety Shield safety features. The TPMS with the “easy-fill” system sends a tire pressure warning to the driver when one of them is under the pressure recommended by the factory. By stopping at a gas station and starting the calibration, the driver will receive confirmation that the tires are at the proper level with a horn sound. If the set pressure exceeds the recommended pressure, three beeps will sound and the car’s lights will blink. Drive-Assist will display the pressure on each screen. In the case of brakes, the Nissan Altima comes standard with four-wheel disc brakes with anti-locking ABS system, which works in conjunction with electronic brake control (EBD) and brake assist (BA) The new Nissan Altima also features a button inside the glove compartment that allows you to lock the boot lid when the car is left with valets. The access to the compartment is barred even in the area of   the folding rear seat. Security to leave personal objects without worry.

Style

The development of the new Altima, which is produced on the D platform (also used by the Murano crossover and the new generation of the sports utility Pathfinder), maintained the personality of Nissan’s main model in the North American market.

The wide grille characterizes Nissan’s current identity, which also inspired the New Sentra, allied to the full-bodied bumper that houses the foglamps. The creases on the sides are strong, with a marked waist line that comes out of the headlights and goes to the end of the trunk lid. The lanterns, like the headlights, have designs that resemble arrows.

Keeping the same basic dimensions of the previous generation – it measures 4.86 m in length and 1.83 in width -, the Altima has, just under the hood, antitortion bar. The model features more advanced high-strength steel Advanced High Tensile Strength Steel (AHTSS), patented by Nissan that helps reduce overall weight while increasing structural rigidity.

Silence

The Nissan Altima is also notable for its internal silence thanks to good sound insulation. It is obtained through interventions at different points: stiffer body, rearview and column design, smoother engine, exhaust and heating system, air-conditioning and ventilation.

The new design of the Nissan Altima also allowed the reduction of the drag coefficient (Cx) by 5%, bringing it to 0.307. This evolution was obtained by smoothing the airflow in the bodywork and with the addition of six baffles and two large lower panels.

Engine and gearbox

The Altima’s four-cylinder engine develops 182 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and delivers 24.78 kgfm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It features variable valve timing on intake and exhaust and a new intake manifold with variable geometry that opens the valves at higher revs to help keep the torque curve flatter. This engine works in conjunction with the XTRONIC CVT® gearbox, continuously variable transmission. An interesting function of the exchange is the Adaptive Control Shift (ACS), system that suits the style of each driver and pavement. The XTRONIC CVT® transmission keeps engine speed down during high-speed driving, which minimizes noise and fuel consumption. The ACS recognizes the speed, how each driver speeds up and their choices in driving. Based on this, it selects the ideal relationship for the specific conditions and intentions of the driver. It also offers a more direct feel of acceleration by coordinating engine speed with vehicle speed as acceleration increases.

Direction

The Nissan Altima adopts steering with Electronic Hydraulic Assist (EHPS). Hydraulic assistance allows for a greater reduction rate than with traditional gears, while the small electric motor, which runs directly from the 12-volt power supply (without converter), does not need to be mounted in the steering box.

Interior

The interior trim is composed of elements in the Piano Black color of the passenger compartment and chrome details on the doors and panel. The steering wheel has good grip and sporty tactile feel combined with the short shift lever. The bright white illumination is unified between the different screens of the instrument panel and the doorknobs have soft materials to the touch. The central armrest has been fitted with upper standard linings.

The headlights feature improved two-stage automatic function. In low light conditions during the day, the headlights light, but the rest remain in daylight mode. In the late afternoon, the headlights light up and the rest reverts to nighttime illumination. The lanterns are LED, new signature of Nissan models. The ignition of the engine is done by means of the Push Start button or the remote start button of the I-Key, an important item of comfort and safety present in the cars of the Nissan line.
